Fans vote Lando Norris 2019 rookie of the year!

Fans have voted McLaren's Lando Norris as rookie of the year, ahead of Alex Albon and George Russell. The three graduates from 2018's Formula 2 field have all made an impact on F1 this year and have been welcome additions, with Russell putting in solid performances for backmarkers Williams and Albon making the step up from Toro Rosso to Aston Martin Red Bull Racing after just 12 Grands Prix.

But the fans voted overwhelmingly in favour of Norris, with more than three-quarters of the vote going to the 20-year-old.

Norris has seriously impressed in 2019, and whilst he didn't rack up the huge points total of teammate Carlos Sainz, he performed brilliantly in qualifying and had more than his fair share of bad luck.

Alex Albon 13,582 votes (16%)
George Russell 7,100 votes (8%)
