Mercedes seems to have produced another car this season that will allow Lewis Hamilton and George Russell to compete for the world title. However, the German racing stable continues to have problems with porpoising, causing concerns within the team.
Due to the new regulations, Formula 1 is opting for a different way of generating downforce this season. This takes place in 2022 via the Venturi tunnels, which push the cars downwards. However, when the gap between the car and the ground is too small, the car shoots upwards. It is a phenomenon called porpoising.

Concerns at Mercedes about porpoising

Not only does it make for a strange sight, but it also causes damage to the car. A number of teams have since managed to fix it, but Mercedes still appears to be struggling with the problems. In order to gauge this, we decided Auto, Motor und Sport to speak with a number of employees within Mercedes.
An engineer from Mercedes expressed his concerns in an interview with the medium. "The problem is complex and cannot be solved by simply making a slot in the floor," he explained. "The air balance makes you slower in the first place. There are a few other things involved."
