Brundle predicts: 'It won't impact Red Bull too much'

After watching the test days in Bahrain, Martin Brundle thinks Red Bull Racing will be hard to beat in 2023. With the experience of Max Verstappen and Adrian Newey on board, it will be difficult for Ferrari and Mercedes to come close, despite Red Bull's budget cap penalty.

The test days are over and so we can look ahead to the first race of the season. All eyes are on Red Bull's team, as Verstappen and Sergio Perez looked good in Bahrain. Although the Austrian racing stable will have to reckon with less wind tunnel time next season, Brundle does not think Red Bull will be hit hard by the penalty.

"They’re looking good. They’ve got this penalty where they’re limited a little bit on their aerodynamic work. I think if they turn up with a great car, and they just have to tweak it throughout the year, they’ll be absolutely fine. It won’t impact them too much," the Brit said on Sky Sports.

So the team's car should be fine, but everything seems to be in good order within the team itself as well. For Verstappen, there is a lot of relaxation after winning his second world title.

"Right now, Red Bull, they’re the first garage as the champions, they feel good. The car was super reliable. Verstappen just gets more experienced, more relaxed, more easy-going, he’s got it all covered. You’ve got so much talent, add that to Adrian Newey and the team at Red Bull, it’ll take some beating," Brundle added.
