Valtteri Bottas has admitted there is more to his rally testing that just enjoyment, admitting there are benefits to it. The Finn recently tested for Toyota in his homeland which yielded some impressive results.
Bottas has been enjoying his best-ever season winning two of the opening four races but the Finn's seat is still under question and he could leave Mercedes at the end of his contract. He came back after the off-season rejuvenated having contested his first rally competition during the period of F1 downtime.
Bottas recently did some testing for Toyota and he believes there are plenty of benefits to it and it isn't just for fun.
“It’s fun, and I do it because I feel it’s good for me. I always learn something more about driving. The more different cars you can drive, the more different surfaces you try, it’s always going to be a benefit," Bottas told Crash.net.
"It’s super-fun, that’s the main reason I do it, but there are also benefits. That’s the thinking behind it. I had never driven a proper car in gravel before, so it was a new experience, and it went all very well.”
