Gabriel Bortoleto asked Max Verstappen an important question to get himself ready for the Dutch GP, and the Dutchman’s answer to the Brazilian caused a stir!
Gabriel Bortoleto is making his first meters at Zandvoort as a full-time F1 driver, and to best prepare himself for the Dutch GP he asked Max Verstappen’s advice on how to approach Turn 3.
Gabriel Bortoleto admitted that he asked Verstappen for tips ahead of his first outing at Zandvoort, aside from his normal preparations in the simulator and at Sauber’s factory.
"Yeah, I asked him a few things like I always do, to be honest. So, it's not specific here, but I think what I am more curious about is the banking with the Formula 1 car – quite a big car.
"And the banking, it's a different feeling I have not experienced this year yet. So, I'm looking forward to driving in T3 (Turn 3, ed.).
"[The] last corner should be flat, so shouldn't be a big thing, but all this section of corners looks interesting.
"I did some laps in the sim, in the factory and at home as well, so prepared myself and looking forward to the weekend here."

Low line or high line? 'Just send it!'

As for how to approach the emblematic Turn 3, he looked to someone who has offered him plenty of advice in the past, his friend and 4-time world champion, Max Verstappen.
"Well, I think everyone has been doing [the] high line since the beginning. Unless... what do you think? Low line?"
Max, who's won three times in a row at Zandvoort from 2021 to 2023 answered: "Low line is not possible. The apex basically is too flat. They should have banked that as well, then it gives you an opportunity, but they didn't.
"Try, yeah. Just send it in. Four cars. Just don't hit me."
