Aston Martin wants to develop in various ways over the next few years to move towards the sub-top of Formula 1. However, a lot is still needed to do this, according to Dan Fallows. According to the British formation's technical director, the growth lies in dependence on Mercedes, among other things.
In terms of design and production, Aston Martin still looks a lot to Mercedes, which means the British cannot yet do without the top team for the time being. Fallows believes this needs to change soon, although he realises the team will have to take some steps first.
"What this team has gained from its relationship with Mercedes has been immense, and as we move into the future and do things our own way, we're mindful that we have to do them at least as well and if not better than they do," Fallows stated in conversation with F1i.com. "That is a capability that you have to build up before we can even talk about making those decisions."

Aston Martin shows growth

After a difficult start to the season, Aston Martin managed to climb to a shared sixth spot in the constructors' championship in 2022. Indeed, it found itself on an equal number of points with Alfa Romeo. Haas F1, AlphaTauri and Williams finished below Aston Martin.
