Lewis Hamilton's words following the qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix resonated the world over, even with double world champion and ardent rival to the Brit, Fernando Alonso. Having fallen eliminated in Q2 whilst teammate Charles Leclerc went on to take pole, Hamilton reacted devastated, branding himself as
'useless' and urging
Ferrari to 'swap drivers.'
Confronted with the Brit's comments, Alonso, as quoted by Sky Sports during the Dutch GP weekend, replied with some comforting words for his rival.
Hamilton is an incredible driver
"From the outside you never know for sure what is going on, but Lewis doesn't need to prove anything.
"He is an incredible driver and he will figure out sooner or later to be at the top pace."
According to the Aston Martin driver, Hamilton and the Scuderia still command respect in the
F1 paddock.
"He and Ferrari will always be a combo that you need to respect a lot."
Hamilton's former teammate at Mercedes, George Russell, also defended the 7-time world champion, saying the Brit was
merely talking nonsense during his emotional outburst.
