At the Bahrain Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso managed to secure a spot on the podium with some nice overtaking moves. The Spanish Aston Martin driver drove from fifth to third place, making several moves on Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Valtteri Bottas.
GPblog.com was at the press conference on Sunday: "on the race pace, obviously we lost time in the first stint. I just sat behind the Mercedes. In the middle stint, I have to pass George and Valtteri. And then on the final stint I had to pass Lewis and Carlos. So, all in all, I'm sure that you lose 10 or 15 seconds on all those battles," Alonso stated.

Battle with Red Bull?

The two-time world champion himself does not yet see a battle ahead with Red Bull, although the two cars do seem to be getting closer. On Aston Martin's competitiveness, he says: "No real fight – yet – to Red Bull." Max Verstappen finished just under 40 seconds ahead of Alonso.Lance Stroll finished 54 seconds behind Max Verstappen.
