Mercedes haven't had it easy since the 2022 rulebook change. The team are watching Red Bull Racing take all the prizes. However, James Allison is enjoying the work it takes to get back to the top, he told Motorsport.com.
Allison returned to Mercedes in April 2023 in his old position as technical director of the Formula 1 team. Since his return, Mercedes have yet to make big enough strides to compete against Red Bull. The Austrian team experienced the most dominant season we have ever seen in Formula 1.

Allison is having fun

Despite that, Allison finds the work enjoyable: "It isn't as much fun as winning, that's definitely true, but you have to sort of love the whole sport. It involves taking your licks when you haven't done a good enough job."

Mercedes successful in 2024?

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said the simulator's initial results looked promising. However, Allison stressed that they do not know how the other teams are doing, so it cannot be said whether this year's car will be successful.
