The Thai driver, who then served as reserve driver for the Red Bull Racing outfit, described the 2021 season finale as fun, highlighting how it reflects what sports stand for.
“2021, it was fun. It’s what sports are all about. These kinds of nail-biters toward the end—clearly, a lot of tension, a lot of adrenaline, and pressure, but all in a good way,” Albon told GPblog in Abu Dhabi.
The Williams racing driver continued by praising the operations of the Red Bull Racing outfit, before highlighting how exciting the experience was.

“That’s also a testament to Red Bull at this time. They’re a very strong operating team, but the stakes are high, and it kind of exposes the cracks in many ways, while also highlighting when they're operating at their best. I find it exciting. That’s the beauty of the sport,” he concluded.
The 2021 Formula 1 season witnessed Verstappen locked in a title decider with Lewis Hamilton. The Dutch driver eventually claimed the drivers’ title after a last-lap overtake on the then-Mercedes driver.
Fast forward to the present day, Verstappen is again locked in a three-way title fight, this time with McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, with the Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi set to decide the eventual winner.
