There are still plenty of critics: regularly one can read or hear that Formula 1 is a polluting sport that is not up to date. Even though F1 has already taken a big step forward with hybrid engines. For the F1 organisation this is reason enough to bring the sustainable character even more into the spotlight.

Green logos

From this weekend onward F1 will have new logos and graphics, which should show that the class considers these issues. The logos will be seen as F1's TV graphics, but also in the paddock, hospitality units and in the pitlane. The branding features a green background and adds the slogan 'powered by hybrid since 2014' alongside the F1 logo.

Formula One emphasises that their engines are the most efficient in the world, with a thermal efficiency of 52%. The series is also continually making strides in its pursuit of greater sustainability. For example, from 2022 F1 will use a more sustainable 'E10' fuel. There are also plans to introduce the next generation of power units in 2025, powered by 100% renewable fuel.

Zero emissions

Formula 1 has big goals. In 2030 F1 wants to have net zero CO2 emissions. In 2025 all Grands Prix must be sustainable events and must compensate their CO2 emissions.
