Formula 2 and 3 will have three races in one weekend this year, but next year there will 'just' be two races per Grand Prix. That is not the only change as there are serious plans to change the points system as well. Only the World Motor Sport Council still has to approve the idea.

The points for the main race remain unchanged in F2 and F3. This means that the winner will receive 25 points, the runner-up will receive 18 points, the one on P3 will receive 15 points et cetera. The way of scoring points is exactly the same as in Formula 1.

But what is going to change? For sprint races, less points can be scored from 2022 on, because they think the main race should be rewarded more.

- Pole position no longer scores four points, but only two points.
- The points system for the sprint race in Formula 2: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.
- The points for the sprint race in Formula 3: 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.
- One point per race for the fastest lap (if finishing in the top ten).
