Leclerc starts on the second row: "I’m not completely sure to be honest"

Charles Leclerc will start the Turkish Grand Prix from the second row of the grid. Neither Ferrari car could move to Q3 last season on the slippy surface, but the Italian's are looking much stronger. Leclerc expresses his surprise regarding the result.

Leclerc's teammate, Carlos Sainz, will start from the back of the grid due to a full power unit change. Sainz made sure he completed laps in Q1 to knock rival McLaren's Daniel Ricciardo out of the opening session.

Unsure why Ferrari are strong

“I’m not completely sure to be honest! As well as this, it’s a little bit strange. Also, the midfield seems to be working well, because everyone is close to pole position. It’s good to see that though," Leclerc said in a conversation with The Race

There are five different constructors in the top five places. Of course, this is helped by Lewis Hamilton ten-place grid penalty. But it adds to the drama provided by the 'best of the rest' battle in the World Championship. After two strong races, McLaren seem to have the upper hand but Ferrari bounce back in Turkey.

"It is very tight between us, today I think we did a good job as a team, and hopefully we can score as many points as possible to try and catch a little bit. They’re very quick, they’ve demonstrated that they can win races, so yeah, we need to do everything perfectly to overtake them in the constructors’ championship," Leclerc added.
