Since last week the documentary Schumacher, about the life of Michael Schumacher, is available on Netflix. The two-hour film gives a good look at the racing career and the private life of the seven-time world champion. His brother Ralf is positive about the documentary.

Big impact of Formula 1

At Sport1 Schumacher talks about the documentary about his brother. "Of course there would have been a lot more in it, it was a very long time. But I think it was very, very nicely filmed, at least in terms of motorsport and sport. There were also a lot of private insights, also from the family, especially the kids and the mother. I thought that was already very big, very open."
An insight into Michael Schumacher's private life is very rare. The German has always been very closed about his private life. "We were then as well known as Helmut Kohl. You couldn't venture anywhere. The tabloid press was a big part of our lives. It was the same for me. I thought to myself: I'll be so happy when it's over one day."

Great memories

For Schumacher, the documentary brings back many memories about his relationship with his brother. "Our relationship was always good, but we have six and a half years difference in age. Michael was out of the house early, at the age of 16. I was only ten at the time." Later, the brothers found themselves driving in Formula One at the same time. "We had a great time together, especially at that level and in the most beautiful places in the world. Those were great times."
