Marko sets date: "We will announce the decision in Monza"

While all eyes of the silly season are on the situation at Mercedes, George Russell, Valtteri Bottas and Alfa Romeo, AlphaTauri has yet to officially announce who the drivers will be in 2022. Advisor Helmut Marko reveals that the decision will be announced at Monza.

Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda currently drive for Red Bull Racing's sister team. Gasly is in his third full season for the team, where he returned in mid-2019 after an unsuccessful stint at Red bull. Tsunoda is in his rookie season and has Marko as one of his biggest fans.

Confirmation won't take long

"We will announce the decision in Monza," Marko said according to Kronen Zeitung. Gasly is performing very well at AlphaTauri and often rises above his material, while his Japanese teammate is still a bit shaky. Tsunoda still crashes sometimes and doesn't come close to his teammate's results.

Still it seems that the team will remain unchanged. Alexander Albon will have to hope for a spot at Williams or Alfa Romeo and Red Bull-junior Liam Lawson is not yet mentioned as a replacement for Gasly or Tsunoda.
