George Russell might have been the happiest man in the F1 paddock this weekend. Nobody will be happy that the race at Spa-Francorchamps has been completely wrecked, but Russell has secured his first podium. A small compensation for what happened last year in Bahrain.
"It doesn't matter. It's not often you get rewarded for a great qualifying run, but we definitely got that today. First of all, I want to apologise to the fans and thank them for staying here to cheer us on. We were all in the same boat."

Russell and Williams will celebrate

"It's a shame we couldn't race, but for our team, this is a fantastic result. We're probably going to celebrate a bit tonight. The whole team deserves this. So much work has been put in over the last few years and we haven't really been rewarded for it. But we did everything right yesterday and that's why we're on the podium. I really didn't expect that this year, that's for sure."
