'Ferrari never let us down'

The summer break came at an inopportune time for some teams, but Haas seem to have welcomed a rest. Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher are not performing as perhaps hoped, which means the team is still without points, although it's ultimately down to the lack of development for this year's car.

For Guenther Steiner, the performances have come as less of a surprise. The Haas team principal knew this would be a difficult season and that the two rookies would have a hard time on the track.

Steiner on Ferrari engine

The lacklustre performance is partly to do with Haas' engine, although Steiner is still positive. "Ferrari never let us down," Steiner states in conversation with Autosport.com. "The engine was not the strongest one the last few years but I don't need to tell them. They know that themselves and they're working hard on it to get it resolved."

"I think they were very helpful when the budget cap came, they said: 'Hey, we've got these people, do you want to jump onto them?' Because we obviously had some redundancies last year, when everything went bad, but then we furloughed. That's the only thing I can ask them, to be there for us when we need help to get going and that is what they did."
