Will Power recorded his first win of the season in the IndyCar race at the Indianapolis Grand Prix circuit. Romain Grosjean finished in a neat second place, while Rinus Veekay drove a colourless race.

Veekay started the race not so good after a poor qualification, then ended up in some fights in the middle of the pack and would eventually after a spin finish as 24th. Not the race Veekay had in mind of course.

So there was a victory for Power, who was ahead of Grosjean and Colton Herta. Power was actually in the lead throughout the race and never really got into trouble. For Grosjean it's a great result, his best of this season.

Championship leader retires

For the battle for the championship this is of course good news, but for Alex Palou it was not so good news. The Spaniard had to accept that, thanks to the failure of the power source, he could not continue and would take zero points. This was just after he had started to advance from behind.

The big advantage for Palou is that the competition, mainly Pato O'Ward and Scott Dixon, didn't have their best race either. O'Ward took advantage by finishing fifth, but Dixon also had a poor race and did not come close to the top ten.
