This season, Fernando Alonso made a much talked about comeback to the Alpine team. The talented Spaniard had disappeared from the Formula 1 scene for a while, but couldn't leave for too long. After a somewhat rough start to the season, the old Alonso seems to be coming back more and more each race.

The start of the season was a bit of a nail-biting experience for Alonso fans. The former world champion was involved in a cycling accident, which left him with a broken jaw and a shoulder injury. He is now completely recovered, and the Hungarian Grand Prix will be one with a golden edge: Alonso will be celebrating his 40th birthday, making him the second man in his 40s on the grid, along with Kimi Raikkonen.

Alonso jokingly handles the situation surrounding his 40th birthday: "I grab a tanning bed, I shave and I look very young so I don't get asked about my age. No, it's going to be a perfectly normal race. Nothing changes. I feel good." Still, his accident prior to the season has left him a little shaken: "To be honest, after the accident at the beginning of the year, I was still a little worried about making a comeback in the sport. I was worried about my jaw and about my shoulder, where that little injury was. But now I'm super, super fit and 200 percent," he tells Motorsport.com.

25-year old Alonso

There will be no special festivities around the race weekend if it is up to the old man: "Hungary will just be another race. We'll have some cake, but apart from that it's a normal weekend. I feel 25, so whatever age is on my passport, I feel much younger."
