Ferrari have been through everything this season in terms of performance. They have seemed very fast at times(especially in Baku and Monaco), but otherwise it has been a season of ups and downs for the team from Italy.

Nevertheless the gap to McLaren in the battle for third place is still manageable. Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto told Motorsportweek.com that he's not unhappy with the development of the team in general.

"You have to be aware that the car itself is exactly the same as the one we had in Bahrain, very few changes. Part of the focus is more on trying to exploit the maximum potential of the car over the weekends.

"It's making sure we do the right job and that [the car] is set up properly, the way you approach the weekend, tyre management, strategy as well. When I look at those areas, I would say we have made progress from the very beginning of the year. For example, I think there have only been two weekends where we have made wrong choices in terms of strategy," the Italian concluded with satisfaction.

Continuing to develop SF21

In any case, that is what Binotto has written down as his main goal for this year. "I think there is still room for improvement from here and that is where our focus lies with the team and the drivers. But so far I think we have made progress and the team is coming together more, not only in terms of spirit, but also the way we act and win through the weekends."

Ferrari will still have plenty of races this season to do this and battle it out with McLaren for third place in the constructors' standings, which in turn will have positive financial implications.
