The French Grand Prix was a great success for Red Bull overall. Max Verstappen won, Sergio Perez finished third and Red Bull overtook Mercedes in the constructors' championship. However, these achievements are not only made possible by the drivers.

Of course: the most important work is done by Verstappen and Perez. Yet Paul Di Resta also sees a few other standouts: Red Bull's pit crew. This he was telling during the SkySports analyses. "Look at that team, they are all athletes. They are a big part of the race and are very important at the undercut or the overcut. How many teams on this grid can do a pit stop in two seconds?" He also saw that Red Bull were on a completely different line to Mercedes when it came to strategy.

"Red Bull went longer with Perez so he could challenge Valtteri in the closing stages. Red Bull played a completely different game to Mercedes in France."

Di Resta on race Valtteri Bottas

Di Resta also saw that it was Valtteri Bottas who opened the strategic game. Di Resta thinks he started his second stint a bit too enthusiastically though. "You could see that he had vibration which made him come in earlier. That second stint he started very fast though, but there he maybe took too much life out of the tyre."

"He can't complain in the end because he was driving in traffic all the way through the race", the analyst continued. "When you qualify in first place you don't have that. Actually, Bottas had a very good weekend but I'm sure he's going to be frustrated. Granted, he predicted a two-stop at the beginning of the race, but the team didn't respond to that."

Bottas would eventually be overtaken by Sergio Perez at the last minute to finish in fourth place. The Finn is now fifth in the championship, behind Perez and Lando Norris.
