Valtteri Bottas had to settle for fourth place in France and that doesn't please him at all. He would have liked Mercedes to go for a two-stop as well.

"It was a disappointing race", says Bottas, quoted by Motorsport-Magazin. The one-stop ultimately proved not enough for the Finnish driver to finish on the podium."Red Bull showed that two stops was the winning strategy, we should have adapted to that earlier. But it's the way it is."

If he could have kept Verstappen behind him a bit longer, he could have done teammate Lewis Hamilton a good service. In the end, Bottas braked a little too late, forcing the Dutchman to pass him relatively early on."I don't know if he was making fun of me - I don't think so. I tried to defend, but he had too much traction coming out of turn nine."

Bottas disappointed with Mercedes

"As a team we were too focused on completing a one-stop with the idea that that would be the best strategy. It wasn't. I had no front tyres left for the last ten to fifteen laps. The last stint was not fun today," he continued to Sky Sports."I tried everything to finish on the podium, but I had no chance."
