Max Verstappen lost the Bahrain Grand Prix three weeks ago after he had to give Lewis Hamilton back the lead because of an illegal overtaking manoeuvre. During the press conference prior to the race in Imola he will revisit the track limits discussion.

"It can be solved easily if you just put a wall there [Turn 4 in Bahrain] or gravel. It would help a lot, because in qualifying we had to stay on the kerb. So that's what I did in the race. Then I heard Lewis was going wide, so then I did it for two laps, but then I wasn't allowed to do it again."

Verstappen will consult with drivers and race committee

Verstappen says he understands why he was reprimanded for his overtaking, but is somewhat surprised by the double standard that was applied during the race. Especially since the rules for the rest of the weekend were clear. "For 30 laps Lewis went wide and gained time there. I tried it for two laps after and then they told me not to, so that's a bit odd.

"I don't think they should be able to change it during the race. Either you are allowed to go wide or not. I can understand that my overtaking outside the track limits is not allowed, so that's fine. But if you're allowed to do it on your own, I don't think that's correct, so we're going to talk about that with the drivers and with Michael [Masi]," said the Dutchman.
