Now that the first free practices have taken place, the start of the first race in 2021 is getting closer. The teams are still trying to collect as much data as possible. All in the hope to be one step ahead of the competition.

That includes the fact that the data does not always show good results. Friday this happened, for example, to debutant Yuki Tsunoda. Even though he impressed some people.

Data not entirely positive

Afterwards, AlphaTauri's head of race engineering, Jonathan Eddolls, came up with a brief explanation. "Unfortunately we saw something in the data from Yuki's car that we didn't feel right about, so we called him in as a precaution, but this was only a few minutes before the end of the session, so it didn't affect our performance."

This year, the Japanese driver will form the AlphaTauri team along with Pierre Gasly. Tsunoda comes over from Formula 2 where he finished third last season. So this year he makes his official debut in Formula 1.
