'McLaren wants to use both filming days now to test Mercedes engine'

Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris have completed their first event of 2021 with the launch of the car, but they cannot sit still. On Tuesday they will both be in action at the Silverstone circuit.

McLaren was the first team to present its 2021 car to the world on Monday. It was pretty early for a team that had to undergo the biggest change of all with the arrival of the Mercedes engine. However, McLaren would like to test that change straight away. 

Test day for McLaren

With the limited number of test days during the winter test (3), McLaren want to make use of both filming days this week, with the first time on Tuesday, according to The Race. Each team can run 100 kilometres twice per season on a track with Pirelli's demo tyres. This time, McLaren will need those metres to test if everything works.

With only three days of testing in Bahrain, McLaren can use all the information it can get. With a completely new engine and limitations in everything you can change, it should become clear on the track if everything works well. It is also a good chance for Daniel Ricciardo to get used to all the work processes within McLaren.
