The upcoming F1 calendar will once again feature 'triple-headers', i.e. racing three weekends in a row. To the dismay of the mechanics who then do not see their families for weeks on end. In this coronavirus crisis, however, it is a necessary evil and we must not make it worse than it is, says Stefano Domenicali.

He tells Autosport.com that he understands this is not an ideal situation and hopes the triple headers will be a thing of the past by 2022. On the other hand, he does keep in mind that anyone working in Formula 1 next season is pretty lucky.

Domenicali has both feet firmly planted in society

"We don't have to forget there are people that have lost their jobs, there are people who are suffering a lot, so I think that it is better to put that into perspective," he explained. I know that it's difficult for all the families and all the people to stay out and work hard, but on the other hand, we need to respect all the people that don't have this opportunity," Domenicali said.

Liberty Media still has the ambition to expand the F1 calendar, but Domenicali does not want to put a figure on it. Something that predecessor Chase Carey did. Under his leadership it was stated that the goal is eventually at least 25 races per season.
