After Louis Camilleri's departure, the battle for power erupted at Ferrari. For the time being, John Elkann is taking over the honors, but who will definitely take over? Luca di Montezemolo would like to take the lead again.

Fight within Ferrari

For personal reasons Camilleri has resigned as the CEO of Ferrari and so some changes are going to take place at the top of Ferrari. According to the Italian newspaper Il Messaggero , FIAT's top man, Mike Manley, will take over as FIAT merges with PSA and Carlos Tavares will take the lead there. Also Enrico Galliera, Ferrari marketing manager, is an option mentioned by the newspaper.

However, there is also an old acquaintance who raises his hand and that is Luca di Montezemolo. The former Ferrari top man told RAI that he would know what to do with the Italian team. "Nobody has asked me anything, but I know what the problems are and I could solve them," said the Italian.

Montezemolo knows how to do it

"This Ferrari is very different from my time, because now they look much more at the value of their shares and not at Formula 1 . I hope they choose a good CEO now, but the perfect choice, Stefano Domenicali, already has a new position. If you want to hear good suggestions, I would be happy to give them to you."

Di Montezemolo is harsh in his assessment of the current management although he doesn't mention any names. "First of all a horizontal organization doesn't work in F1 and then you just see that people lack experience and knowledge on how best to organize Ferrari. Secondly, you need people with qualities that can make a difference in your organization. I always had a strong team because we chose people with experience," concluded Di Montezemolo, who was responsible for the successful period between 1999 and 2004, when Ferrari captured six world titles in a row.
