Hamilton wants a fight with Verstappen: "No one would believe it if I won"

Many Max Verstappen fans would like to see the Dutchman driving the Mercedes next to Lewis Hamilton. However, according to the Brit, that does not matter much, because according to him no one would believe it if he defeated Verstappen.

Hamilton is currently the best Formula 1 driver and perhaps the best there has ever been. However, as always, there are discussions about who is really the best. In the Netherlands, many people are convinced that Verstappen would beat Hamilton, but the Mercedes driver thinks differently.

''I still notice that I am getting better. I have become sharper again and I understand the strategy and tyres better and better. I didn't expect to get better now, but I was running up against a ceiling. It's good to see that that's not the case, but I have to work hard for it,'' says Hamilton to GQ magazine.

''It's no coincidence that's such a good row. Of course there are big differences between the teams in this sport and people want to devalue my performance that way, but I would love to race against everyone in the same car. You saw that when I finished my debut for Fernando Alonso. Then I was 22 and a rookie,'' Hamilton is confident.

Lewis doesn't shy away from the battle with Max Verstappen either. ''Today people talk about Max. That's probably never going to happen, but if Max were to join my team and I do the same thing I'm doing now and I beat him, people wouldn't believe that anyway,'' concludes the Brit.
