Another Mercedes driver sidelined due to lack of support?

George Russell seemed to have a contract for 2021 with Williams, but in Formula 1 nothing is ever certain. Sergio Perez lost his spot at Racing Point and is now on the hunt for a seat at Williams, leaving Russell's position in danger.
Earlier this year, Nicholas Latifi and George Russell were confirmed as Williams' drivers for 2021, but with the new owners, the coronavirus and the chaotic driver market, a lot has changed.
Will Russell lose his seat?
Russell is not yet worried, however, and feels Toto Wolff's support. ''He said to me that they support me and that I will definitely be on the grid 100% next year, so I'm not worried. Everything will be fine and I expect full clarity from Williams by the end of the week,'' says Russell according to Racefans.net.
However, Wolff doesn't seem entirely reassured, as he said earlier that George would also be fine as a reserve driver for Mercedes. This would make him the second driver of Mercedes to be on the sidelines for a year. Esteban Ocon, who was also guaranteed a place in F1 by Wolff, has already done the same before joining Renault in 2020.
