Brawn points to willingness Red Bull: "But respect reasons Mercedes"

Liberty Media wanted to experiment with reversed grid sprint racing in Austria and Great Britain, but world champion Mercedes stopped it with his own hands. The other teams did support the plan of the owner of Formula 1, but the required unanimity was not achieved.

"In the first instance, Toto was very frank and said: 'I think I'm in a very strong competitive position and I don't want anything that is going to upset the chances of me winning races.' And that's fine. That's his prerogative", said Brawn, talking to the BBC.

Brawn laughs reasons Mercedes

Wolff came Wednesday with more explanation why Mercedes has chosen to vote against. The British race stable believes that it will lead to unfair situations for three reasons. Brawn doesn't understand that Mercedes is now throwing it on those arguments.

"Since then, all sorts of things have come out as to why we shouldn't do it. I still prefer to stick to his first reasons, which I respect, and I might even be the same in his position", said the 65-year-old Briton.

Brawn hates existence unanimity

In an interview with RACER, Brawn also points out that Red Bull Racing was perhaps the biggest supporter of the idea, while they might be the least likely to benefit from the plan, as they have been winning in Austria for the last two years.
