Verstappen targets area where Red Bull have struggled with most in 2019

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen thinks the team have struggled to adapt to the new front wings that were introduced for the 2019 season, as the team's famously good downforce mainly came from there in previous years.

Verstappen has won two races so far this season, equalling his record from both 2018 as well as 2017, adding a pole position this season to his cv this year too. 

However, in general, Red Bull have not been at the races across the whole year, although progress has been made in terms of reliability and the power unit. 

Previously, Red Bull dominated at all downforce-heavy tracks like Monaco, but it hasn't been the case this season, as he tried to explain why that is.

"I'm no aerodynamics expert," the seven-time Grand Prix winner joked to Ziggo Sport.

"So I don't think I'll be a big help in that. I have to make sure I give everything on the weekends and everybody has to do their job 100%." 

The 22-year-old thinks Red Bull lost ground with the new front wings that were introduced this season, with much of the Bulls' downforce supremacy coming from the front wings in previous years.

"This year, with the new front wing, it's been tougher for us,"  he continued.

"We'll have to take a good look at that, after the winter as well, but we have a lot of ideas already how we can be stronger in that department."
