Kvyat eager to get among the points in close midfield battle

Daniil Kvyat believes there isn't much more he could've done to get a better result during qualifying for the German Grand Prix, which saw the Russian qualify in 14th for the race.

Kvyat set his fastest lap of 1:13.278 during Q1 and his time 1:13.135 was only enough for 14th place at the Hockenheimring. His fastest lap during qualifying was an improvement on his final qualifying session which saw him place in P17.

Several drivers have stated how close the midfield battle is and Kvyat was no different, feeling he did the most he could in the circumstances.

“It was quite close in the midfield today and honestly I don’t think there was much more I could have done," Kvyat told the Toro Rosso website.

"I went a little bit wide in the last sector which cost me around a tenth, but the cars ahead were maybe three-tenths of a second down the road."

Despite starting a few places off the points the Toro Rosso driver is eager to put himself in a position to get some points and believes the weather could have a big say.

"Thinking of the race, which is what counts, the weather could play a part as it might be quite different to today.

"If it rains, I think it might mix up the cards a bit, I’ll work hard to get into the points.”
