Nico Hulkenberg has shown his pleasure at returning to the points after five races without scoring, saying that he had good feeling and rhythm in the car.

Hulkenberg raced solidly to come home in his starting position of seventh, and had an opportunity to attack teammate Daniel Ricciardo in the dying laps, but was told to hold station by his team.

The result for the Renault team took them to fifth in the constructors' standings, just two points behind McLaren.

After the race, Hulkenberg told Ziggo Sport: “We were able to continue driving for a long time on the first set of tires. It went better than expected, I had a good feeling, good rhythm on those soft tires, so we adjusted the strategy a bit. I continued longer than we had planned, but the pace was good, so a good strategy.

“It was a pity at the end. Of course I had newer tires than Daniel, but I tried to get past them. But if I sat behind him for one second, my car was overheating and my brakes too, so I had to fall back all the time. So yes, I should have done better yesterday, it would have been better."
