Lance Stroll said it was a "challenging weekend" all-round at the Monaco Grand Prix for Racing Point, after the Canadian once again failed to progress from Q1.

Stroll was eliminated from Q1 for the 10th race in a row and started the race in P17. Racing Point decided not to pit Stroll during the early safety car period, but the strategy didn't really pay off.

The Canadian ran no higher than 11th in the race and could only manage a P16 finish for his new team.

"It has been a challenging weekend for the team as a whole and unfortunately the race was just as tough," Stroll admitted. "I made a good start and then we rolled the dice in terms of strategy by staying out under the safety car to get track position.

"After that it was a quiet race really. We suffered with graining on the tyres in the first stint and then during the second we were stuck in a bit of traffic. It wasn't the weekend we wanted but we will regroup and come back stronger for Canada in two weeks' time."

Stroll has managed just four points since joining Racing Point at the start of this season, and he heads back home to Canada in 12 days' time, where he will be looking to progress beyond Q1 for the first time since in Japan last year.
