Boullier insists: 2021 last chance for F1 to turn the tide

Éric Boullier, former McLaren boss, believes 2021 provides Formula 1 which one last chance to stop "the downfall". According to the Frenchman, the regulation overhaul set to hit the sport in 2021 will determine the future outlook.

"F1 needs a major change. 2021 offers the last chance to stop the downfall, which seems inevitable at the moment," he reported to Japanse F1 Sohuko.

Boullier, who successfully worked with the Lotus F1 team, suggests the budget cap is the biggest thing required.

“The large teams have too much advantage, while the independent teams have difficulty covering the sky-high costs. Even teams that come last in the championship should be able to rely on some form of financial support to continue to develop a car and hire new staff," he finally mentions.
