Daniel Ricciardo's poor start to the season has sparked rumours that Liam Lawson could replace the Australian this year. These included rumours of a possible driver change in Imola. According to Marko, however, those rumours are not true, Red Bull's top advisor revealed in his column on Speedweek.com.

Last season, Lawson has already racked up some kilometres in Formula 1. During the race weekend at Zandvoort, Ricciardo broke his metacarpal, preventing him from driving for a number of races. The New Zealander then replaced the eight-time race winner, after which he impressed by scoring points in the AlphaTauri.

In Miami, Ricciardo managed to recover, but before that it was not the best this season. Consequently, rumours were already emerging that the Australian had been given an ultimatum and that he might be replaced by Lawson before the Imola Grand Prix.

Marko denies rumours surrounding Ricciardo and Lawson

According to Marko, none of this is true: "The rumours that Ricciardo will be replaced by Liam Lawson at Imola are nonsense. Liam's manager from New Zealand, apparently he has certain dreams that have been made known through the media. Nothing at all is planned for Imola, but of course we will look at this in the future."
