Lando Norris celebrated his first Formula 1 win on Sunday, after securing the top podium step in Miami. His dad, Adam Norris, who can often be seen at races, celebrated from home. The McLaren driver's dad was delighted to be able to see his son finally secure the win they have all been dreaming of.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1, Adam Norris said: "It's been amazing. I think you've seen 110 [races in F1]. I was working out, it's probably about 900 races I've been to over the last 16 years. It's been a long time, but it's there, we got there."

"It's beautiful. Lewis' dad gave me a text and we've been through a lot, it's interesting knowing as a parent how many hours you put in and supporting them and everything. I remember it was like, I can't get out, hundreds of weekends away, and then all the races on the different weekends, it's just a lot of time. But it's brilliant, I love it, so happy for him," Norris commented when asked how proud he was of his son.

How many podiums does Lando have?

Lando Norris joined McLaren as a rookie in 2019, and since then held the record for most podiums without a win (15), and most second place podiums without a win (8). Despite not finishing in the sprint race on Saturday, the Brit felt confident that the upgrades the team had made to the car would help him secure his first place. He finished ahead of world champion Max Verstappen in second, and Charles Leclerc in third.

The father of the British racing driver added: "It's a long journey, and it's just the pleasantness of getting there and thinking, well, how do we get there? It's about one point so far off when you start out, and you think, well, Do we ever get to Formula One? You get to Formula One, will we ever win a race? It's just amazing."

"Three, five years in, you think, right, this is it, it's too much. Too many weekends away from home, away from your family. But it makes it all worth it. He's got one more now to take, hasn't he? World champion, next!"
