After a successful season in Formula 2, where he went home as champion, Theo Pourchaire is considering a full-time career in IndyCar. Still, the dream of Formula 1 lingers in the back of the Frenchman's mind.

The dream remains to become Formula 1 champion

A championship title in Formula 2 was unfortunately not enough for Pourchaire to advance to the king class. After a year of being a reserve driver for Kick Sauber and with no open seats in Formula 1, Pourchaire has set his sights on IndyCar. "IndyCar was already on my list last year. It is something I always wanted to do. I just didn't have the opportunity to drive," Pourchaire told Autosport.

In filling in for injured Arrow-McLaren driver David Malukas, Pourchaire finished 11th after starting 22nd. After the race, the driver called the event "amazing". Yet the Formula 1 dream remains alive with the young Frenchman. "I am of course F2 champion, which is great, but I want more. I want to win a few championships. If one day I can win the IndyCar championship, my dream is to become F1 world champion too. That's everyone's dream."

Pourchaire remains cautious about his future in motorsport. " I have a lot of time ahead of me, because sometimes people can forget that, but I am only 20 years old," Pourchaire says. In the IndyCar, we will see Pourchaire more often; after his great race in Long Beach, he has been selected for this weekend's round at Barber Motorsports Park.
