McLaren make constructors' championship target clear

McLaren make constructors' championship target clear

5 April - 08:32

Red Bull Racing seems to be the undisputed number one in the current Formula 1 season. Just like last season, when Max Verstappen won 19 races. McLaren team boss Andrea Stella would be happy to fight with teams like Ferrari, Mercedes and Aston Martin for their spot in the constructors' championship. The team boss also talks about a possible race win by Lando Norris.

Stella explains what is achievable. "I think already Red Bull have shown that they are very competitive. And we would be definitely very happy if we could be fighting with Ferrari, with Mercedes, with Aston Martin. They have definitely important upgrades of their car, Aston Martin. We will see over the season who's done a better job in terms of developing their car. But I would say consolidating a P3 in the Constructors’ Championship is a strong result for us."

Can Norris win a race this season?

Asked if Norris will win another race this season, Stella responded, "We’re working very hard to make sure that’s the case. And I think we are getting there more and more positive and optimistic that not only Lando, but Oscar will have their chances this year. And like I say, we’ll depend very much on all how good a job we do with upgrading the car."

"We will see a thing after Miami what kind of step forward we were able to make, and then we will take it from there. We are definitely working hard to give Lando and Oscar and material and car such that they can compete at the front of the grid.," Stella concluded.
