Lewis Hamilton is not getting the results he wants in Formula 1 at the moment. Things have not been going well at Mercedes for a while. The Briton, meanwhile, is 39 years old. In an interview with GQsports, he explained his current thoughts about retirement.

As in most other sports, you cannot keep racing in Formula 1 forever. This is because the sport requires a lot of physical strength, and when you are older you cannot keep up with the younger generation. Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, is already 39. Besides, his Mercedes is currently failing to win races. From next year, the Brit will step into the red Ferrari. Still, he is thinking about quitting racing.

What does Lewis Hamilton want to do after Formula 1?

Besides racing, the Brit is very involved in other industries, such as fashion, film or music. He can, therefore, often be found in spaces with other stars. Hamilton indicates that he has spoken several times with other athletes about retiring from sport. "I’ve spoken to so many amazing athletes, from Boris Becker to Serena Williams, even Michael Jordan. Talking to greats that I’ve met along the way, who are retired—or some that are still in competition—and the fear of what’s next, the lack of preparation for what’s next. A lot of them said: ‘I stopped too early.’ Or: ‘Stayed too long.’"

This got the Briton thinking about his future. "'When it ended, I didn’t have anything planned.’ ‘My whole world came crashing down because my whole life has been about that sport.' I think it’s gonna be film and fashion," Hamilton said.
