Happy faces in Maranello: Ferrari celebrates one-two after Australia GP

29 March - 13:00

Last weekend's Australian Grand Prix was won by Carlos Sainz. Charles Leclerc crossed the line in second place, marking a one-two finish for the Italian Scuderia. After a double for Ferrari on the podium, it was time to celebrate in Maranello, where the factory is located.

Sainz victory in Australian Grand Prix

After an appendectomy, Sainz was back in Melbourne on Friday. There were doubts for a while whether he would race the whole weekend, but soon team boss Frederic Vasseur gave the impression that things were fine. He even paid a visit to his driver in hospital during the week when there was no race.

Sainz qualified P2 in Australia, just behind Verstappen, who managed pole position for the third time in a row this season. The Spaniard started second, behind Max Verstappen, but Sainz overtook the Dutchman on lap two of the race. Verstappen suffered a problem with his right-rear brake and had to abandon the race.

Ferrari celebrates in Maranello

Partly due to Verstappen's failure, Leclerc drove to second place in the race. This one-two was celebrated in Maranello after the weekend. "Celebrating the one-two together. The Australian GP result was a true display of our team spirit and cooperation both on track and in Maranello," reads Ferrari's message on X, formerly Twitter.
