This is how Antonelli performed in first F2 practice

Besides the new Formula 1 season starting, the season has also started for the future stars in Formula 2. In this, top Formula 1 junior Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who drove his first free practice on Thursday morning, is the main focus of attention.

In Formula 2, completely new cars will be used this year. So there may be opportunities this season for drivers who have been in the step-up class for some time. Verschoor, for example, will be driving for the fourth year this season.

First practice for top junior Antonelli

Besides the somewhat older guard, the focus is mainly on Andrea Kimi Antonelli. The Italian is only 17 years old but is already being labelled as the future challenger of three-time world champion Max Verstappen. The Mercedes junior competed in the European Formula Regional championship last year. This year, he is skipping Formula 3 and will, therefore, have to prove himself right away in the class below Formula 1.

The driver driving for Prema ended the practice in fifteenth place with a 1:46:605. The fastest man was Isack Hadjar. He recorded a 1:45:099. Qualifying later will show how the picture really is in 2024.
