Everyone will surely agree: the Visa Cash App RB F1 Team name is quite a mouthful. It is virtually impractical for fans, journalists and team members alike to use the full team name. Understandably, there is plenty of speculation about what Scuderia AlphaTauri's successor will be popularly labelled. Now, the team themselves come up with the answer!

In the run-up to the unveiling of the new name, there was much speculation about the introduction of the Racing Bulls name. Among other things, the Italian team appeared to have registered this name as a domain name. But in the name the team eventually announced - Visa Cash App RB F1 Team - the 'Racing Bulls' did not appear anywhere. The team indicated last week that RB does not stand for 'Racing Bulls' either.

What do the letters RB stand for?

So, what do they stand for? “The company’s name is Racing Bulls, but the RB in the team name, Visa Cash App RB F1 Team, does not necessarily refer to the company name, which stays in the books at the Chamber of Commerce. It also brings us closer to the Red Bull Brand, something which was less evident with the Scuderia AlphaTauri name," the team told GPblog.

Dutch F1 commentator Nelson Valkenburg (Viaplay) previously told this site he expected the Italian team to probably refer to the RBs in his commentary. The team themselves now clarify what the team can be called: "VCARB is the way in which we call ourselves, and you are welcome to use it too," the team stated.

Visa Cash App RB F1 Team caused a fuss

VCARB has also noticed that the new team name has caused a stir among fans and commentators. For example, Giedo van der Garde said the name is "not an appropriate name." In response, the team says the name "shows a great commitment from major companies that believe in us and trust the fact we can do a good job together."

"I’m sure that if we succeed on track, fans will start liking it always more," the spokesperson said.
