Competing with Haas against the other nine teams for F1 points is equivalent to using a knife during a gunfight, according to Guenther Steiner. Chance-free, then. Where did things go wrong for Haas?

It has been almost two weeks since Haas announced it was parting ways with Guenther Steiner and replacing him with Ayao Komatsu. The reason? Simply too poor results. But Steiner would have liked to have seen more investment in the team. ''It didn't go well last year, I know that. I am not retarded,'' Steiner told Racer.com. He continues: ''But if you look at it from my side, what can I do to improve? Everyone knows that all the other teams invested a lot more. We went to a gunfight with a knife.''

F1 has changed

The former team boss feels that F1 has changed: ' 'So many things have changed in the last five years and it's all to do with the budget cap. People sometimes asked me if we had already tapped the budget cap, but that doesn't mean anything anymore. You have to tap it with your spending on upgrades, you have to reduce your spending on normal things. That worked 10 years ago, that doesn't work any more.'' How to do it, according to Horner? It's as simple as opening your eyes: ' 'You just have to do what other teams are doing, because everyone else is doing it. It's just like if you develop a good car, then everyone imitates you. You just have to do the same with your team structure.''
