Marko laughs at Christmas card Ecclestone: 'Bernie hands out blows for Christmas'
On his annual Christmas card, former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone looks at the sport with a healthy dose of humour, but this year the 93-year-old Briton says he has little to comment on. Helmut Marko sees the joke and thinks there is a little sneer hidden in Ecclestone's Christmas message.
Ecclestone sends out a Christmas card to the world every year, in which he refers to the current state of affairs in F1 with a wink. Last year, for instance, his card featured a cartoon-like drawing showing team bosses plotting among themselves and trying to bug each other.
Hidden sneer on Ecclestone's Christmas card?
This year, however, he has a different message: "I am sorry I could not think of anything exciting or strange that happened this year that could be depicted on my usual card. I wish everyone a peaceful and happy end to the year and may 2024 bring you all good things and a more stable world. Bernie."
Marko can laugh at Ecclestone's Christmas message and sees a hidden sneer at the sport in it. "What an announcement! We got a big slap from Bernie for Christmas," the Red Bull Racing consultant laughed at Auto Bild.
