Haas team principal Gunther Steiner believes that the team still has a chance at beating Renault in the F1 constructors' championship. Although the team lost their appeal over Romain Grosjean's disqualification from the Italian Grand Prix, it hasn't deterred the team from their ambitions.

Having been excluded from the event and their appeal failing in the courts of Paris against the FIA, Haas will now turn their attention back to the track with the Brazilian Grand Prix up next.

Steiner says that he still thinks the battle with the French team in F1's midfield could go to the end despite the 30 point deficit the American outfit are up against.

"It’s very tense in the midfield," Steiner said ahead of the race in São Paulo.

"I think it’s a very interesting battle. I would always like to be on top of the battle, but it changes all the time, and you’re really focused on that one during every practice, qualifying and race to see how close you are to your nearest competitor."

Kevin Magnussen also reasserted the team's ambitions of overhauling Renault in the remaining races, adding that minimalising mistakes would be crucial to their cause.

"We’re still really keen to try and catch up, and we’ll do everything we can to maximize our chances against them. It’s the ‘best of the rest’, so there’s a lot of pride in it

"We’ve taken a step forward this year and we’ve proved that we can build a car that’s capable of best-of-the-rest. We just have to minimize the mistakes, score points and get the results we deserve to have more points regularly.”
