The story that Lewis Hamilton's camp had contacted Red Bull Racing for a possible seat alongside Max Verstappen spread like wildfire through the F1 world. Whether the two Formula 1 world champions ever end up together in one team remains to be seen, but Renger van der Zande thinks so.

According to Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, there has been contact between the two camps. It would eventually have come from Anthony Hamilton, Lewis' father. At the Ziggo Sport Race Café table, Van der Zande and Jack Plooij say Hamilton and Verstappen in one team is out of the question.

Van der Zande and Plooij agree on Hamilton at Red Bull

Plooij explains that he does think he knows when these talks took place. "That must have been then, just before the deal with Toto Wolff was finalised. It went on and on and on. Wolff said: 'Yes we are almost ready'," says Plooij, who thinks it went like this. "Do you think he will ever come to Red Bull Racing in that car?"

Van der Zande agrees with Plooij, and doesn't think Hamilton will ever drive alongside Verstappen at Red Bull either. "Firstly, they don't want him there, and secondly, I don't think he wants it himself either," the 37-year-old driver says. Besides, Plooij added: "Verstappen is obviously never going to do that in his life days."
