Marko names problem at Red Bull: 'The front tyres completely gave way'
According to Helmut Marko, Red Bull Racing struggled with a problem during the first free practice for the Mexican Grand Prix. However, the top Austrian advisor stressed that the problem was fixed before the start of FP2.
Marko pinpoints problem at Red Bull
Marko says Red Bull had a problem in the longruns in the first free practice session. "The front tyres completely gave way," he let Motorsport-Magazin.com know. "We have that under control now and both the short and long runs look good." Max Verstappen closed both practice sessions as fastest.
As for Verstappen's main rival, Marko expects it to be McLaren driver Lando Norris again. "I don't think he can keep up the pace that well over the race distance. He is still faster than Oscar Piastri, but they suffer more from tyre wear," he explained.
As for Daniel Ricciardo 's comeback at AlphaTauri, Marko is also very pleased. "Ricciardo was very good from the start. I don't know how much fuel he was driving with, but it won't have been much less than with us," Marko praised the Australian. He is also optimistic about Sergio Perez 's performance. "Three tenths behind is already a very good sign for a Friday. A home race gives just a little extra motivation."
