Andretti-Cadillac is keen to make an entry into Formula 1. The US team has already obtained an FIA licence, but it also still has to pass the hurdle of the FOM. Andretti-Cadillac is aiming for an entry in 2025, but US General Motors, of which Cadillac is also part, would not want to start building its own engines until 2027. As a result, Andretti-Cadillac must be supplied by one of the four current engine suppliers in 2025 and one of the six engine suppliers in 2026, if the team does indeed enter the F1 grid.

Alpine not an Andretti-Cadillac engine supplier

Earlier this year, the US team confirmed to GPblog that Alpine would most likely supply the engines for Andretti-Cadillac, but that deal seems to be off the table in the meantime. According to the French brand, there was a provisional contract, but it has since expired. Alpine has been the only team running with the Renault engine since Red Bull Racing switched to Honda engines in 2019.

Ferrari would consider supplying Andretti-Cadillac engines

So with Renault dropping out, only five options remain for Andretti-Cadillac: Mercedes, Red Bull Powertrains, Ferrari, Audi and Honda. The latter would consider supplying engines to Andretti-Cadillac, Formu1a.uno reported. Currently, Ferrari supplies engines to two customer teams, Alfa Romeo (Sauber) and Haas.

However, Alfa Romeo will become Audi in 2026 and that team will no longer run with Ferrari engines. However, in order to retain some political power, Ferrari does want three teams to continue to run with an Italian engine, and in this regard, it seems to have its eye on the American team.
