Formula 1 has officially confirmed that Pirelli will continue to supply tyres to F1 teams for at least three more years, with the option of another year.

Pirelli enters new tyre deal with F1

The FIA and F1 have confirmed that Pirelli will be the sport's official tyre supplier for another three years from 2025. The Italian supplier will also supply tyres to Formula 2 and Formula 3. This is a new three-year contract, with the option of a one-year extension in 2028. Pirelli reportedly plans to exit Formula 1 as a tyre supplier after the new contract.

Earlier this year, manufacturers were given the opportunity to apply to be tire suppliers. Bridgestone was said to have been a serious candidate and would have made a similar bid to Pirelli, but the choice finally fell to the Italian manufacturer, which has been supplying tires to F1 since 2011.

The announcement comes three days after Pirelli experienced problems with the tires during the Qatar Grand Prix weekend. The FIA was forced to take drastic measures: an extra practice was called in, track limits at the Losail International Circuit were revised and maximum stints of eighteen laps were imposed during Sunday's race.
